Concrete Close Board Fencing Installation – A Sturdy, Stylish Solution

Project Overview

For this project, our team at Willow Tree Carpentry & Joinery was tasked with replacing a worn and damaged fence with a durable concrete close board fence. The job required creative problem-solving, as we faced challenges like uneven ground levels, a cherished bush intertwined with the original fence, and a tree inconveniently placed near the boundary line. Despite these complexities, we delivered a robust, attractive fencing solution that satisfied both the client and their neighbour.

Scope of Work

The project involved the removal of the old fencing and the installation of a new, long-lasting concrete close board fence, tailored to the specific needs of the property. Below is a breakdown of the tasks we completed.

Removal of Old Fencing

The existing damaged and worn-out fence was carefully dismantled and removed, making way for the new installation.

Concrete Posts Installation

Slotted concrete posts and corner posts were concreted into the ground to form a solid foundation for the new fence, ensuring stability and durability for years to come.

Concrete Gravel Boards

We installed concrete gravel base boards, which provide protection from ground moisture and ensure the longevity of the timber panels by keeping them off the ground.

Timber Close Board Fencing Panels

Installed timber close board fencing panels between the posts, creating a strong, classic fencing style with plenty of privacy and weather resistance.

Treated Timber Rails

To accommodate a cherished bush that had grown over the original fence, we installed treated timber rails to support the bush while preserving its beauty without damaging it during the fence installation.

Challenges & Solutions

This project came with several unique challenges:

  • Uneven Ground: The property had uneven ground levels, which required us to carefully adjust the fence height and positioning to ensure a consistent, level finish.

  • Bush & Tree Management: A beloved bush had grown on the old fence, and a tree near the boundary complicated the layout. We installed supporting rails to preserve the bush, while carefully working around the tree to avoid damage and maintain the neighbour’s boundary.

Outcome

The result was a durable, visually appealing close board fence that enhances the property’s privacy and aesthetic. Both the customer and their neighbour were extremely satisfied with the final outcome. The concrete elements provide long-lasting support, and the timber close board panels offer a natural look, blending well with the garden and surrounding environment.

Customer Feedback

The client appreciated our ability to tackle the tricky elements of the project, including the uneven ground and delicate handling of the bush and tree. They were pleased with the balance between function and aesthetics, and their neighbour was equally happy with the shared boundary solution.
